Sugar Cookie Creamer is vanilla, butter and almond flavored simple syrup combined with heavy cream and milk.

Heavy Cream and Milk: My favorite base for homemade coffee creamer is a combination of heavy whipping cream and whole milk.

The recipe is a 2 to 1 ratio of cream to milk, so it’s thicker than regular half and half.

You can substitute in other types of milk or even use some sweetened condensed milk.

Just keep in mind that the sweetness and creaminess changes depending on the type of milk you choose.

Sugars: Homemade sugar cookie syrup both sweetens and flavors the coffee creamer.

Make the simple syrup with white sugar and light brown sugar for the best taste.

Do not use dark brown sugar. It’s too molasses-like.

Flavor Extracts: A trio of flavor extracts makes this holiday creamer reminiscent of buttery sugar cookies.

You will need vanilla, butter and almond extracts. Opt for pure over imitation when possible.

If you’re not a fan of almond, leave it out. If you do use it, add it sparingly and in small increments as it’s pretty intense.

Three bottles of flavor extracts, milk, heavy whipping cream, granulated sugar and bowl of light brown sugar.
Heavy whipping cream is the key to making rich homemade coffee creamer.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Make sugar cookie simple syrup. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil and add in both sugars. Immediately reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes until sugars are dissolved. Remove syrup from heat and whisk in vanilla, butter and almond extracts. Set aside to cool.
  2. Combine syrup with cream and milk. When the syrup has cooled to room temperature (about 5 minutes), whisk in the heavy whipping cream and milk.
  3. Bottle and store in refrigerator. Add the coffee creamer to a 16 fluid ounce or larger glass jar. Preferably, sterilize the jar by boiling it prior to use. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week, or sooner if either milk expires before that time.

Detailed recipe and instructions are in recipe card at bottom of post.

Recipe Notes

Add extracts off-heat. The alcohol in extracts burns off in heat, and so does some flavor. To avoid flavor burn-off, add all three extracts after the syrup is removed from the stove.

Sub in sweetened condensed milk. For those that prefer a sweeter and thicker creamer, use sweetened condensed milk in place of heavy whipping cream.

Make more syrup than needed. If you plan on making this creamer often, make a large batch of this copycat Starbucks sugar cookie syrup recipe ahead of time. It lasts 2-4 weeks in the fridge.

Then, just combine syrup, cream and milk when ready to make more creamer.

How to Use Sugar Cookie Creamer

This homemade sugar cookie creamer can be used in small amounts splashed in coffee or more for making lattes.

Since this coffee creamer is 100% real milk and cream, it steams up perfectly.

Froth some up for a homemade sugar cookie latte or combine the steamed creamer with chocolate sauce for a rich homemade hot chocolate.

For an iced sugar cookie latte, add some more syrup to a cup with espresso and ice. Top it off with the creamer and sprinkles for a touch of Christmas in every sip.
